Notice: I will book budget photography jobs per request. I am retired from photography because I am financially stable, not because I am unable. But photography still brings me joy. Please ignore my package/pricing. I will only take budget customers per request. I served Ventura County for over a decade. I've been to hundreds of weddings. Email me.

* If you have a normal budget, I am not a photographer for you. And PLEASE, I will not work for free. Expect to pay something. It takes me 5 hours just to get ready.

Photography Fitness: Wedding, May 9, 2009

I believe I set the record today.

I burned most amount of Calories (3396).  And I worked the logest hours (11 hours).
I was extremely tired today.  But it was just as rewarding.

* I was in pain.  I better get into a better shape.

Oh, shoot.  I forgot to turn on my foot pod when I arrived at the wedding site.  So my total walking distant is shorter than what it's supposed to be.

Project: Photography Fitness, July 26, 2008 Wedding

This was my third wedding with my heart rate monitor.  I am beginning to see the relationship between the temperature and calories burn.  I burn more calories when the weather is hot.  My heart beats faster when the weather is hot.  Today was not as hot as last 2 weddings.  Today I burned the least amount of calories. I burned 1844 calories (compared to my other 2 wedding with 2754 & 2208 kcal expenditure)

I walked 4.8 miles today.

Heart Rate Monitoring - How it Started

Photography as Fitness Activity (workout)

  • Heart rate, calorie, & distant monitoring of a wedding photographer at work
  • Wedding photography can be an intense workout.
  • Proving wedding photography is not for weak person.  That's why a lot of photographers hire assistants.

VenturaPhoto.com is the first (& only) photographer to monitor physical activities of a
wedding photographer on the job - Just for fun Smile

I used to be a fitness expert.  I used to bench-press 225lb 10 years ago.  I was approached by a gym to lead aerobics classes.  Now I do light workout.  I am 158lb, 5'7" (31 inch waist).

Anyway.  I wanted to know how much calories I burn while I photograph a wedding.  I wanted to know how many miles I walk.  I wanted to know what my average heart rate was.  So, I bought a sophisticated heart rate monitor.   Ever since, I've been monitoring my physical status while I'm at the wedding.

Heart Rate Monitor, wedding Photographer
Heart rate monitors: Old and New

###

For exampe. On my "Normal Day" I burn 637 Calories in 8 hours.

At the wedding, I burned 2754 Calories in 6 hours and 19 minutes.  Sometimes I burn 3000+ Calories easy.

Measuring physical activities at the wedding only takes a few seconds.  I just set my monitor and go about my business.  I believe I am the only person in the world providing this kind of data.   This is fun.
